F1 Odds Explained

Odds displayed in a sportsbook reflect the chances of a specific outcome. They always work the same way, regardless of the sport — positive odds mean a less likely outcome but a higher return, while negative odds entail a more secure prediction with a smaller reward potential.

The odds for F1 may look something like this:

  • Max Verstappen to win the Australian Grand Prix (-800)
  • Sergio Perez to win the Australian Grand Prix (+900)

In this particular case, Max Verstappen is an overwhelming frontrunner to win GP Australia. He is almost sure to win, hence the -800 odds. Additionally, if you want to get 100 coins off your prediction of Verstappen winning, you must play 800 coins —- a significant investment for a small yet likely reward.

Could be interesting:

Verstappen's Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, is the second favorite. Nevertheless, Perez's victory would qualify as an upset, so the odds are set at +900. Now you just need to play 100 coins to win 900. It is a high reward, but there is little hope that those coins will actually land in your balance.

Of course, keep in mind that these are just extreme examples. Some races could be more closely contested than others, while other markets may feature F1 predictions with more balanced odds, like +120 or -150.

Formula 1 Championship Odds and Race Markets

You may find Formula One odds in two main categories — individual race predictions and full-season predictions.

For individual races, we will post odds a week or two before a given race. Some of the predictions you may find here include:

  • Race winner: A simple pick on who you think will cross the finish line first.
  • Winning team: Instead of the individual winner, you can pick a team whose driver you think will win the race.
  • Podium finish: This prediction wins if your driver finishes anywhere in the top three spots.
  • Head-to-head: Driver matchups challenge you to choose which of the two given drivers will finish in a higher position.
  • Formula 1 props: There are many exciting proposition markets for any given race. For example, you can pick a driver who'll have the fastest lap, predict the time margin between the first and second-place drivers, guess whether a safety car will appear at any time during the race, and more.
  • Live Formula 1 odds: Another way to choose Formula 1 picks is by making them while the race is running.

The odds for Formula 1 are also available in the outright market section. This is where you'll make your picks for the entire campaign rather than just one race. The markets you can expect to encounter are:

  • Drivers championship: Pick a driver who'll have the most points at the end of the season. If someone is a heavy favorite, like Max Verstappen, there will be a market on who finishes best without him in the mix.
  • Constructors championship: Select which of the ten Formula 1 teams will win.
  • Season H2H: Similar to individual race H2H, the goal is to predict which of the two teams or drivers will be ahead in the final standings.
  • Driver to win a race: A yes/no prediction on whether a given driver will win any of the races during the season.
