The Boilermakers have a 27-3 record, so they round out the top three favorites. After being victim to a first-round upset in the 2023 March Madness tournament, Matt Painter will be looking to lead his team to the title in 2024. 7’4 center Zach Edey is second in the season’s ppg rankings, with 24.1, so Purdue will be hoping he can continue his excellent form as March Madness begins.

In 2023, the Houston Cougars were the favorite to win the tournament. They were the number one favorite, slightly above their position this year. However, the other favorites making up the top three differed from this year’s challengers.
Kansas and Alabama were the joint second favorite to win the 2023 tournament, with Purdue sitting just behind their position for this year as the fourth favorite.
It’s surprising that Houston has dropped from its position as favorites, mainly because UCONN lost players to the NBA during the off-season. However, the excellent freshmen replacements for the Huskies and their incredible form mean Houston is less impressive than in 2023.
