Which NBA Players are Going to the Olympics?

The question of which NBA players will go to the Olympics in 2024 is common among basketball fans, as the NBA is home to the world’s biggest basketball stars. The Olympics allow non-American NBA stars to shine, with dozens of NBA players in the Olympics 2024. Team USA is bursting with NBA talent, but there is no shortage of players heading back to represent their country at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

United States (-556)

  • LeBron James (LA Lakers)
  • Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
  • Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers)
  • Anthony Davis (LA Lakers)
  • Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)
  • Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics)
  • Devin Bookers (Phoenix Suns)
  • Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers)
  • Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves)
  • Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat)
  • Derrick White (Boston Celtics)
  • Injured: Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors)

The United States has called in its top players after losing the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and there is no shortage of talent going to France. A trio of Boston Celtics fresh off their 2024 NBA championship made the roster, with Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White all getting the call. Steph Curry and LeBron James have already secured their spot in the Hall of Fame, and they would love to add another gold medal to their illustrious careers. The bench players for the United States would easily start for any other team in the tournament, and there is no doubt the United States has the best NBA players in the Olympics 2024. Anthony Edwards is one of the most explosive players in the NBA, and paint protectors Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis will ensure there are no easy baskets for their opposition. An injured Kevin Durant will not be replaced, as the United States has more than enough talent to overcome his absence. The accolades up and down this roster have made them massive -556 favorites to take home the gold medal, and it’s hard to argue with these odds.

Combined United States NBA Awards:

  • 7 NBA MVPs
  • 7 NBA Final MVPs
  • 15 NBA Champions
  • 78 All-Star Appearances
  • 2 NBA Rookie of the Year

The United States had seven of the top fifteen scorers in the NBA last season, and it’s startling to imagine these players coming off the bench. Players like Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton have never come off the bench since the day they were born and will be hungrier than ever to earn their minutes for Team USA. There is simply too much depth and talent on this roster to overlook.

Canada (+1000)

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder)
  • Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets)
  • RJ Barrett (Toronto Raptors)
  • Dillon Brooks (Houston Rockets)
  • Andrew Nembhard (Indiana Pacers)
  • Luguentz Dort (Oklahoma City Thunder)
  • Kelly Olynyk (Toronto Raptors)
  • Dwight Powell (Dallas Mavericks)
  • Trey Lyles (Sacramento Kings)
  • Nickeil Alexander-Walker (Minnesota Timberwolves)

Canada is coming in with the second shortest odds, and their ten NBA players playing in the 2024 Olympics will ensure they can compete with anyone. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished second behind Nikola Jokic in the 2024 NBA MVP race, as the young Canadian exploded for 30.1 PPG on 53.5% from the floor last season. His finishing at the rim is second to none, and his mobility in the lane ensures he can usually create the space he needs to get up a shot. Joining him in the backcourt in 2023 NBA champion Jamal Murray. Murray overcame injury issues to suit up for Canada and will be thrilled to represent his country in Paris. Murray is trigger-ready from deep but can also make shots from anywhere on the court. Players like RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Andrew Nembhard, and Luguentz Dort will give Canada the depth that few other nations have. All four players are starters for their respective NBA teams and know how to turn up in big moments for their country. Canada may not have the same household names as other countries, but their rising superstars and deep lineup will ensure they are favorites against anyone other than the United States.

France (+1400)

  • Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs)
  • Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves)
  • Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards)
  • Nicolas Batum (Philadelphia 76ers)
  • Evan Fournier (Detroit Pistons)

French NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama will be eager to represent his country at his first career Olympic Games, and there is no shortage of talent joining him on the court. Wembanyama took the NBA by storm with a solid rookie campaign, as the lengthy forward is a menace on both ends. Wembanyama and four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year winner Rudy Gobert will stifle the world’s best offenses and allow France to stay within striking distance against the top teams. Wembanyama and Gobert are the two best defensive players in the NBA, and when they team up in their home country, there is no limit on their defensive impact. The up-and-coming Bilal Coulibaly will be a player to watch for France, as he will be called on to deliver big shots on the offensive end throughout this tournament. France may struggle to consistently score on the other end, but when they flex their defensive muscles, they usually walk away with the win.

Serbia (+1700)

  • Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)
  • Bogdan Bogdanovic (Atlanta Hawks)
  • Nikola Jovic (Miami Heat)
  • Vasilije Micic (Charlotte Hornets)

Serbia may have four NBA players going to the Olympics in 2024, but only one will make the headlines at this year’s tournament. Nikola Jokic is the reigning MVP, winning the award in three of the last four seasons. His ability to generate offense not only for himself, but his teammates too is why he is the best basketball player in the world. Jokic seemingly has eyes in the back of his head with the passes he makes, and the crafty NBA superstar doesn’t need a second invitation to take a shot hook shot or get to the free-throw line too. Bogdan Bogdanovic is the only other Serbian getting consistent minutes in the NBA, and his shooting will certainly be leaned on when Jokic finds him open from deep.

Germany (+2100)

  • Dennis Schroeder (Brooklyn Nets)
  • Moritz Wagner (Orlando Magic)
  • Franz Wagner (Orlando Magic)
  • Daniel Theis (Indiana Pacers)

Germany won the 2023 FIBA World Cup and will look to build on that momentum at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Dennis Schroeder may not be an NBA superstar, but his performances in the German uniform have turned him into a national hero. Schroeder seamlessly facilitates the German offense, allowing the strengths of his teammates to shine brightly. His on-ball defense and quick decision-making have made him the perfect leader for Germany. Additionally, the Wagner brothers will be eager to make an impact. Moritz Wagner is three years older than his brother Franz and will likely spend more time on the court than his younger brother. Mortiz shot a career-high 60.1% from the floor last season in the NBA and is not afraid to take a shot from anywhere on the court. Germany overcame the odds at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and their quartet of NBA stars will try to do so again this year.

Greece (+2400)

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)

There is just one NBA player in the Olympics 2024 for Greece, but he couldn’t be more impactful. Antetokounmpo is a two-time NBA MVP and won the NBA championship in 2021, taking home Finals MVP in the process. Antetokounmpo is virtually unstoppable once he builds up a head of steam, and the ‘Greek Freak’ will be crucial to his teams’ success. Antetokounmpo has been battling injuries for the last few months, but after several weeks of healing after the conclusion of the NBA season, a healthy Antetokounmpo instantly transforms the Greek team into a legitimate gold medal threat.

Australia (+3400)

  • Josh Giddey (Chicago Bulls)
  • Patty Mills (Miami Heat)
  • Joe Ingles (Minnesota Timberwolves)
  • Dante Exum (Dallas Mavericks)
  • Josh Green (Charlotte Hornets)
  • Dyson Daniels (Atlanta Hawks)
  • Jock Landale (Houston Rockets)
  • Duop Reath (Portland Trail Blazers)

Australia may have eight NBA players at the Olympics, but most of their roster features bottom-tier NBA talent. Josh Giddey is the only starter on their roster and will be looking to put his off-court issues behind him this summer. He got traded to the Chicago Bulls in the offseason after three years in Oklahoma City and is a valuable member of the team on both ends of the court. Patty Mills and Joe Ingles are the only two other players who get reasonable playing time on their respective NBA teams. Mills is a lethal three-point shooter and will help Australia space the floor on offense. His ability to knock it down from deep keeps defenses honest and will give Australia a fighting chance against the top teams if he can get hot. Ingles is aging, and his inclusion will help the younger players on and off the court.

Spain (+6900)

  • Santi Aldama (Memphis Grizzlies)
  • Usman Garuba (Golden State Warriors)

Spain may not have the same NBA talent some other rosters have, but with a promising Spanish league of their own, there is no shortage of talent in this squad. Santi Aldama will be a starter for Spain, joining a quartet of Euroleague stars in the starting lineup. Aldama elevates his teammates nicely when he is on the court, and the rest of the Spanish squad plays high-level basketball in Europe. At just 23 years old, he has already seen massive growth in his three years in the NBA and will look to join his Euroleague teammates on a deep 2024 Paris Olympics run.

Japan (+30900)

  • Rui Hachimura (LA Lakers)

Japan will be sending a single NBA player to the 2024 Paris Olympics, as Rui Hachimura is the only man to make the cut. His role on the LA Lakers has grown in recent seasons, and the 26-year-old will have learned a lot from playing and practicing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Japan lacks the roster needed to make a deep run, but Hachimura could further solidify his status in the NBA with a solid showing.

Puerto Rico (+38900)

  • Jose Alvardo (New Orleans Pelicans)

Jose Alvarado, AKA ‘Grand Theft Alvarado,’ will be thrilled to be one of the NBA players in the 2024 Olympics. Puerto Rico has no chance of pulling off an upset, but the crafty NBA veteran will happily represent his country at the Olympic Games. It will be a short tournament for Alvarado and Puerto Rico but a monumental one for their country.
