The Philadelphia Eagles and GM Howie Roseman have been lauded for their drafting ability throughout the years, and in the 2025 NFL Draft, that prowess will be tested. The Eagles are slated to pick at the end of the first round, at 32nd overall, after a second Super Bowl triumph in franchise history.
Though it’s a spot envied by the rest of the league, it will require continued strong selections from Roseman and the Philly brass to hold off a league racing to catch up. With another six selections in addition to No. 32, including two Day 2 picks, Philadelphia isn’t short on ammo.
Read on for the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2025 NFL Draft outlook.

Philadelphia Eagles Needs & Draft Strategy
By this point, after over a decade of Howie Roseman’s leadership, the Philadelphia Eagles’ draft approach is well known.
Roseman, more than any other executive, simplifies proceedings by targeting players with pedigree, high reputations, and elite ceilings, trusting in the team’s infrastructure to develop them as needed. Already armed with one of the best rosters in the NFL, the Eagles’ approach will be about further bolstering their team in hopes of defending their title.
It’s fitting, then, that no position better exemplifies Roseman’s approach than the defensive line, where both Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis have excelled. While the Georgia Bulldog duo has solidified the interior, the Eagles do have a pressing need on the edge.
In 2024, Josh Sweat led the team in sacks with just eight, while his pass rush partner Nolan Smith trailed slightly with 6.5. Neither player is the type of high-impact rusher needed as a team’s best edge defender, and Sweat is a pending free agent with a history of knee injuries.
A year ago, Philadelphia’s pass-rushing performance was average, ranking 15th in total sacks, 32nd in hurry rate, and 28th in pressure rate. Regardless of Sweat’s future, the Eagles need an impactful pass rusher to be added to the mix.

The Eagles’ second need remains on defense, this time at off-ball linebacker. Zack Baun was a complete revelation in 2024, moved off the ball from the edge, and is sure to get a lucrative new contract. Alongside him at the second level, however, there’s a question mark after Nakobe Dean suffered a serious knee injury.
With 15 starts and 128 tackles vacated through Dean’s absence, finding a new partner for Baun at linebacker is a must.
Philadelphia’s final pressing need is on defense as well, and again further back. While team has a host of riches at cornerback, there are no such luxuries at safety.
The trio of Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Sydney Brown, and Reed Blakenship did well last year but have question marks—most prominently, the long-term status of Gardner-Johnson, who frequently wears out his welcome, and how to improve upon Blakenship.
Blakenship played well enough last year but was the least impactful Eagles defender by a wide margin. With just six pass breakups and four interceptions, there’s a sense that his performance could improve with greater playmaking.
Potential Philadelphia Eagles Draft Picks 2025
Howie Roseman built a title-winning defensive line on the back of Georgia Bulldog defensive linemen, but unfortunately Mykel Williams likely won’t be there at pick No. 32. Fortunately, Roseman and the Eagles won’t be short on edge rushers.
If the Eagles somehow, miraculously, find themselves able to stop a Bulldog slide again, it would see Jalon Walker land in Philly. The smooth athlete is likely to be slightly out of reach; however, a couple of consolation prizes stand out.
Either Marshall’s Mike Green or Mississippi’s Jared Ivey would help the Eagles from day one and, crucially, have a chance to produce a high-end pass rush rate with the benefit of playing alongside former Georgia defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.
At linebacker, a best-case scenario for the Eagles would see Alabama athlete Jihaad Campbell fall to No. 32 and find his way to a defense loaded with college pedigree. If the Eagles need to find a replacement, they could consider either Georgia’s Smael Mondon Jr. or Clemson’s Barrett Carter as potential rookies alongside Zack Baun.
With Philly holding their own second and the Miami Dolphins’ third-round pick, they can target safety on Day 2, which figures to be rich at the position. Notre Dame’s Xavier Watts and Oklahoma’s Billy Bowman Jr. would likely require the second-round pick.
Alternatively, the Eagles could pair Iowa’s Sebastian Castro with former teammate Cooper DeJean in the third round with Miami’s selection. Two players with top-tier pedigree, former Penn State safety Jaylen Reed and former Ohio State standout Lathan Ransom, would fit in Philly as well.
