The Bengals and Chiefs face off in a rematch of the 2023 AFC Championship game as Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes write another page of their historic rivalry. The Chiefs are coming in as 5.5 point home favorites on the NFL odds week 2, and this is the best NFL week 2 matchup.
Kansas City narrowly beat the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener, and the league was reminded that this team is far more than just Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs defense was exceptional at getting the timely stops they needed and giving good field position to their offense. Mahomes has a pair of speedy receivers, Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, opening up the playbook for Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.
For the Bengals, the story was very different in week 1. The Bengals were the largest favorites in week 1, boasting an 8.5 point spread at home against the Patriots. However, Joe Burrow looked like a shadow of his former self, and the Bengals were embarrassed by one of the league’s worst teams. Their offense was non-existent, posting just 224 yards of total offense.
If Joe Burrow was fully healthy and playing his best football, this spread should be in the 5.5 point range. However, with a compromised Burrow taking on a ruthless Chiefs defense, Cincinnati will struggle to move the football once again. Kansas City is a machine on offense, and it’s hard to imagine them scoring less than 20 points and will possibly be closer to 30. The Chiefs have been in tough situations like this before, but time and time again, they find ways to win. The Bengals have been historically slow starters in recent seasons, and they will fall to 0-2 against Kansas City on Sunday.

The NFL will bring two of their up-and-coming star quarterbacks into the spotlight here, as Offensive Rookie of the Year CJ Stroud hosts number one overall pick Caleb Williams and the Bears on Sunday night.
In week 1, the Texans beat the Colts 29-27 in what was a high pressure game in the AFC South. Stroud had a clean game, throwing for 234 yards with a pair of touchdowns and no turnovers. He was able to navigate a strong Colts pass rush and move in and out of the pocket with ease. Running back Joe Mixon has settled into his role as the lead back nicely, running for 159 yards on an average of 5.3 yards per carry. Their defense made some mistakes, but nothing costly enough to cost the Texans the victory.
The Bears had a completely different game but still found a way to win. They dug themselves a 17-0 hole early on before storming back to get the victory. Caleb Williams was muted as the Bears failed to score an offensive touchdown. The Bears’ defense won them the game, and the defensive unit will need to step up once again to get the victory. Williams had a very short leash against the Titans, as head coach Matt Eberflus took his time getting him acclimated to the NFL.
The Bears deserve to be underdogs here, but a 6.5 point spread is too wide. Chicago has a better defense than Houston, which is enough to grab them on the spread. The NFL has seen dominant defenses carry sub-par offenses in the past, and Chicago is a prime example this year. Williams will get better as the season goes on, and he will just have to be average to win after the Bears disrupt the rhythm for Stroud and the Texans. This is simply too many points, and the Bears will get the cover and have a real chance to win outright.
