The Best 4 Expert Picks for the NFL Divisional Round
Game 1: Texans at Chiefs
- Spread: Chiefs -9.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Texans +325/Chiefs -550
- Over/Under: 41.5
- Time: January 18 at 4:30 p.m. ET
Thanks in part to a flurry of turnovers and some big plays from wide receiver Nico Collins, the Houston Texans hung 32 points in their upset win last week. Now, looking ahead to the divisional round, a repeat performance would appear unlikely.
In the Kansas City Chiefs and Texans, we have teams that finished the regular season 11th and 23rd in offensive Expected Points Added, respectively. As they have done throughout the season, Kansas City will likely rely on their defense and let a clean, efficient offense take the lead.
Pick: Under 41.5 (-110)
Game 2: Commanders at Lions
- Spread: Lions -8.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Commanders +330/Lions -550
- Over/Under: 55.5
- Time: January 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET
Last weekend, the Washington Commanders and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels wowed the crowd with an exciting upset victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their reward, however, is a trip to Detroit to face the roaring Lions. Ultimately, this pick is one out of pure respect for Detroit’s success this year. It didn’t just beat teams, it destroyed them routinely.
Eight of the Lions’ 15 wins this year came by a margin greater than the spread on the board here, and they finished with the best scoring margin in the league at +13.1. We would trust them to win big on Saturday night.
Pick: Lions -8.5 (-120)
Game 3: Rams at Eagles
- Spread: Eagles -6 (-120)
- Moneyline: Rams +190/Eagles -260
- Over/Under: 44.0
- Time: January 19 at 3:00 p.m. ET
The L.A. Rams began their postseason with a statement, completely dominating the Minnesota Vikings in a 27-9 win. Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford once again demonstrated their importance in the team’s success, and they are set to do so again on Sunday in Philadelphia.
While the Philadelphia Eagles won comfortably against the Green Bay Packers, 22-10, they totaled fewer than 300 yards of offense and mustered just 22 points. With a deeply flawed offense, they simply won’t win by multiple scores—if they can hold off the Rams at all.
Pick: Rams +6 (-120)
Game 4: Ravens at Bills
- Spread: Ravens -1 (-120)
- Moneyline: Ravens -125/Bills -110
- Over/Under: 51.5
- Time: January 19 at 6:30 p.m. ET
The game of the weekend and, possibly, the postseason altogether is on Sunday night in Buffalo. While these teams are so closely matched that the Baltimore Ravens are favored despite being headed on the road, it is incredibly telling. The Buffalo Bills have faltered in recent weeks, while Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have captured the finest play of their season. Although the outcome may be uncertain, we anticipate that the Ravens will overcome Buffalo and advance to the AFC title game.
Pick: Ravens -1 (-120)
NFL Divisional Round Predictions and Picks

NFL Player Prop Predictions: Commanders at Lions
- Spread: Lions -8.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Commanders +330/Lions -550
- Over/Under: 55.5
- Time: January 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET
David Montgomery’s looming return gives us an opportunity to take Jahmyr Gibbs’ total yardage at a line that’s likely lower than it should’ve been. Still fresh off knee surgery, Montgomery will be slowly worked in situational spots like short yardage and goal line.
Gibbs, for his part, has surpassed his 111.5 total yards line in seven games this year and had another five games with between 99-108 yards. One of the league’s most dynamic players is in red-hot form, and we’re happy to ride him.
Pick: Jahmyr Gibbs Over 111.5 total yards (-120)
NFL Score Predictions: Texans at Chiefs
- Spread: Chiefs -9.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Texans +325/Chiefs -550
- Over/Under: 41.5
- Time: January 18 at 4:30 p.m. ET
While taking the Under in this game, it would be wise to double down on a low-scoring affair and go with the Under on a total touchdowns line of 4.5. Both of these teams went Under totals in 10 games during the regular season, and between playoff intensity, the weather, and the Chiefs’ ability to control games, another gritty affair is ahead.
Pick: Under 4.5 total touchdowns (-125)
NFL Moneyline Predictions: Ravens at Bills
- Spread: Ravens -1 (-120)
- Moneyline: Ravens -125/Bills -110
- Over/Under: 51.5
- Time: January 19 at 6:30 p.m. ET
While we’re happy to take the Ravens -1, there’s plenty of value to be found in taking them on the moneyline, too. The resemblance between these two teams, including the quarterbacks, is remarkable. However, over the past few weeks, as we’ve witnessed the Bills’ performance slightly decline, the Ravens have found their rhythm.
Pick: Ravens (-125)
NFL Against the Spread Predictions: Texans at Chiefs
- Spread: Chiefs -9.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Texans +325/Chiefs -550
- Over/Under: 41.5
- Time: January 18 at 4:30 p.m. ET
In addition to being a low-scoring affair, I fully expect the Chiefs to dominate against the Texans. Almost every year, we see a mediocre team get through the Wild Card round only to be given a cold douse of reality in the Divisional Round. After spending the better part of three months playing middling football and being unable to muster much offense at all, Houston will find itself completely overmatched.
The Chiefs won this exact matchup by eight points less than a month ago. In the rematch, with playoff chances, expect the defending champions to find another level and completely suffocate CJ Stroud and the Texans’ offense.
Pick: Chiefs -9.5 (-120)
