Seahawks NFL Draft Picks

The Seattle Seahawks finished 10-7 last season but fell just short of qualifying for the NFL playoffs. The 2025 NFL draft will allow the Seahawks to upgrade a few key positions as they look to take control of a wide-open NFC West. Geno Smith is still their man at quarterback for now, but in the final year of his contract, the Seahawks may look to select his successor at the 2025 NFL draft.

Seattle Seahawks Needs and Draft Strategy

Offensive Guard:

A strong offensive line can be the difference maker in the modern NFL, as we saw with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. The Seahawks left Geno Smith out to dry in the pocket, as the signal caller was forced to frequently scramble out of the pocket on pass play situations. Seattle allowed the 5th most sacks in the league last season, and the wide variety of elite linemen in the 2025 NFL draft will allow the Seahawks to upgrade this position.

Quarterback:

The Seahawks still have Geno Smith for one more year, but he isn’t getting any younger and it is time to start thinking about the future of this franchise. Sam Howell and Jaren Hall aren’t the answer either and drafting a quarterback with a mid-round pick could be a great option for the Seahawks. They wouldn’t be thrust into a starting role and can learn from Smith throughout the season. The top-end quarterback talent isn’t there in the 2025 NFL draft, but there is more depth than usual at this position. This is the most important position in football, and the Seahawks have the luxury of being able to comb over this year’s and next year’s draft for their future quarterback.

Linebacker:

For almost a decade, the Seahawks had a pair of dominant linebackers, Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright, and have struggled to replace them over the last few seasons. Derick Hall and Boye Mafe logged impressive sack numbers, but their coverage left plenty to be desired last season. The Seahawks aren’t far away from dominating the middle of the field, and one strong linebacker from the 2025 NFL draft could solve their defensive issues.

How many picks do the Seattle Seahawks have in the 2025 Draft?

The Seattle Seahawks have 8 selections in the 2025 NFL draft. Their 18th overall selection is their most valuable asset, and the Seahawks coincidentally rank 18th in the league in terms of draft capital too. Their selections this year are as follows:

  • 1st Round: 18th Overall
  • 2nd Round: 50th Overall
  • 3rd Round: 83rd Overall
  • 4th Round: 137th Overall
  • 5th Round: 173rd Overall
  • 6th Round: 187th Overall
  • 6th Round: 212th Overall
  • 7th Round: 236th Overall

Seattle was relatively quiet in the trade market, as seven of its eight selections were its usual picks. The team is unlikely to receive any compensatory picks, and its lone extra draft pick came from the Chicago Bears, who traded Darrell Taylor for an additional sixth-round selection.

Potential Seattle Seahawks Draft Picks 2025

1st Round, 18th Overall: Tyler Booker (Offensive Guard, Alabama)

Alabama has been a stray pipeline for NFL superstars, and the offensive line is no exception. Tyler Booker has the physical skills needed at 6’5” and 352 pounds, and is impossible to knock over once he gets his hands up. His speed still needs work, but going through Booker is simply not an option. He doesn’t have the versatility to play anywhere on the offensive line, but he is great in the run game and will rarely get beat in pass protection.

2nd Round, 50th Overall: Jaxson Dart (Quarterback, Mississippi)

Jaxson Dart could be the answer to the Seahawks problems at quarterback. The 21 year old still has plenty of growing to do, and backing up Geno Smith for a season could allow him to grow into an NFL starter. He is a functional athlete and has all the natural talents a successful quarterback needs. His decision making in time-sensitive situations still needs work, but Dart would be a steal at 50th overall if he is still available.

4th Round, 137th Overall: Will Howard (Quarterback, Ohio State)

Will Howard won the National Championship last season, but he isn’t the best quarterback in the NFL draft. He is expected to go in the 3rd or 4th round, and the Seahawks would happily scoop him up at 137th overall. Howard is a big quarterback like Geno Smith and could learn a lot from the NFL veteran. He is a dual-threat quarterback, but his tendency to turn the ball over is a real concern. He is 24 years old, which has prevented him from being an earlier pick in the 2025 NFL draft. However, he is functional and has the potential to be the quarterback in Seattle heading into the 2026 season.
