AS Roma vs Torino Prediction

AS Roma vs Torino Introduction

The 2024-25 Serie A campaign will end this weekend, and with Rome’s two clubs still jostling for positions in the European places, AS Roma will head north to the Olympic Grande Torino Stadium.

After a 1-0 Roma victory in Rome earlier in the campaign, the resurgent, fifth-place side will be eager to do the double against a Torino squad slumping into the summer.

Ahead of a season finale in Turin on Sunday, May 25, at 2:45 p.m. ET, check out our Serie A odds and AS Roma vs. Torino prediction at the Sportzino sportsbook.

AS Roma vs Torino Match Preview

In their last five matches, AS Roma have enjoyed a stellar run of four wins and one loss, taking 12 points from a possible 15. Their hot run toward the end of the season seems to have put them fifth, one point behind Juventus and one point ahead of hated rivals Lazio. Artem Dovbyk leads the way with 12 goals this season.

It has been a less enjoyable run in for Torino, who sit 11th and level on points with Udinese, in 12th. Their last five matches have seen them take just four points from a possible 15, with two losses on the bounce. Scot Che Adams leads the way in his first season in Italy, with nine goals.

AS Roma vs Torino Head-to-Head

The last 10 matches between AS Roma and Torino have been considerably one-sided. Dating back to July 2020, Roma boasts a record of seven wins, two draws, and one loss against Torino.

AS Roma vs Torino Key Stats

Neither Roma nor Torino has been a high-flying attacking side this season, with Roma ninth in goals scored (54) and Torino 13th (39). Both have enjoyed defensive stability, however, with Roma’s 35 goals conceded the fourth-fewest in Serie A, and Torino having allowed the seventh-fewest (43).

Torino has been an average home side this year, with 25 points in 18 matches. Roma, for their part, have been just as average away from Rome, with 25 points from their 18 road matches.

AS Roma vs Torino Prediction Tips

FT Result

When a season reaches its end, the question of motivation comes into play. While some teams, like Napoli and Inter Milan, must still fight for the title, and others like Roma and Lazio fight for a European place, others are without incentive.

While Roma find themselves in a fight for a place in Europe and against their hated rival, Torino is without any real incentive. Ultimately, the difference between 11th and 12th in Serie A is strictly financial—a motivating factor at the board level but much less so at the player level.

With Roma in desperate need of three points to secure their place in European competition next season, in great form for months now, and the superior side on Sunday, this result is headed toward an obvious conclusion.

Pick: Roma moneyline (-180)

Both Teams To Score

With Roma in a good position to win against Torino, the both teams to score pick comes down to whether or not Torino will find the back of the net.

Roma’s defensive record this season has been quality, with 35 goals conceded across 37 matches. Their stability has been consistent whether they’re home or away, with 20 goals conceded in 18 away matches.

Torino, meanwhile, has been relatively toothless. They have scored just 39 times in 37 matches, and the backing of their home crowd hasn’t helped. They’ve scored just 17 times in 18 home matches, and luck hasn’t skewed one way or another, with their 17 goals coming from an Expected Goals (xG) mark of 17.3.

In a massive match for Roma, they’ll keep a clean sheet.

Pick: Both Teams to Score – No (-128)

Over/Under

With Torino unlikely to score against Roma, the Over/Under on a goal line of 2.5 becomes a question of whether Roma can score three or more. The answer is no.

On the season, Roma averages just 1.45 goals per match from an xG of 1.37, and 0.94 away from home with an xG again of 1.37. Torino, for their part, are decently stable defensively. They’ve conceded an average of 1.16 goals per match from an xGA of 1.31, with those figures at home moving to 0.88 conceded per game with an xGA of 1.28. Barring a complete collapse from Torino, expect a cagey affair.

Pick: Under 2.5 (-112)

Score Prediction

After the analysis laid out in the moneyline, both teams to score, and Over/Under markets, you can probably guess where the exact score prediction is headed.

Roma have enjoyed nine 1-0 victories this season, including in the reverse fixture at home in October against Torino. In the season finale in the north of Italy, expect Roma to do the double over their opponents, with the same scoreline.

Pick: 1-0 (+550)
