College Football Week 15 Odds Analysis

(No. 19) University of Nevada – Las Vegas vs (No. 10) Boise State

  • Spread: Boise State -3.5 (-120)
  • Moneyline: UNLV +135/Boise State -200
  • Over/Under: 58.5
  • Time: Friday, December 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET

The Mountain West Championship game will feature a rematch from an earlier season battle between the Boise State Broncos and the UNLV Rebels. The Broncos won that game, 29-24, giving them the home-field edge in the rematch. The Smurf Turf is set to take center stage on Friday night.

The Broncos’ win over UNLV in October was in the middle of a long win streak that is still going strong. It is now 10 games long after a demolition of the Oregon State Beavers last week. The Rebels, meanwhile, rebounded from that defeat at home to Boise State by ripping off four straight wins.

Unfortunately for UNLV, however, two marks from its previous matchup with Boise State do not bode well ahead of Friday’s title game. The first, naturally with Boise State, comes back to running back Ashton Jeanty. The Heisman contender has treated nearly every opponent like they’re in Pop Warner this year. However, he was limited to just 128 yards on the ground in the first matchup. With an average of 190.6 yards per game this year, the expectation of positive regression is strong.

The setting also works in the Broncos’ favor. After a five-point win in Las Vegas in October, the rematch swings back to Boise—yet the Broncos get only 3.5 points. Though the chances of the game could breed a tighter affair, a more comfortable win for Boise State appears likely.

Pick: Boise State -3.5 (-120)

(No. 5) Georgia vs (No. 2) Texas

  • Spread: Texas -2.5 (-125)
  • Moneyline: Georgia +105/Texas -150
  • Over/Under: 49.0
  • Time: Saturday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. ET

An SEC epic awaits at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday as the Georgia Bulldogs make the short trek to Atlanta to face the Texas Longhorns. The SEC title game is a rematch of a strange meeting in October, which will be remembered in infamy for the littered field. However, it also saw the Bulldogs defeat the then No. 1-ranked Longhorns, setting up a fascinating rematch.

The Bulldogs have been maddeningly inconsistent since that win over the Longhorns. Just two weeks after knocking Texas off, Georgia lost handily to Mississippi – only to turn around and put together an impressive two-score win over the Tennessee Volunteers. And, yet, two weeks later, Georgia was again, barely scraping past Georgia Tech in a 44-42 win. If nothing else, the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs are consistently inconsistent.

For their part, the Longhorns rebounded from their lone defeat of the regular season is emphatic fashion. Since that loss, they’ve ripped off five straight wins and took four of those victories by multiple scores. With the exception of the Oregon Ducks, there’s a good argument Texas has been the country’s most consistent team all season long.

Regarding this weekend’s SEC title game, that would suggest Bulldog backers have two things to turn to: Big game experience, with Kirby Smart’s Georgia making a habit of appearing in big games, and the earlier season win.

Smart’s tenure can only count for so much when his team has spent almost all of the season looking far from battle-tested. On either side of the first Georgia vs. Texas matchup, we’ve seen compelling evidence that the result for both teams was a bit of an anomaly.

Though we see college football titans turn it on quite consistently at the end of the year, Georgia’s time has run out this year. Trust Texas to finish the job it has been setting up all season.

Pick: Texas moneyline (-150)

College Football Week 15 Odds FAQ

When do the College Football Week 15 games begin?

The first college football game of Week 15 is on Friday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Conference USA title is on the line, with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers facing the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. That championship is flanked by a pair of other games on Friday night before the remaining six conference title games take place on Saturday.

What is the Best Game on this week?

With it being conference championship week, there are a few candidates for the best game of the week, each with considerable chances. However, the true best game of the week must be in Indianapolis. The Big Ten title game will feature the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Oregon Ducks. While the Ducks are favorites, an upset for the Nittany Lions would lead to quite a swing in the College Football Playoff picture.
