Top 5 College Football Expert Picks Week 9

(#12) Notre Dame at (#24) Navy

  • Spread: Notre Dame -13, Navy +13
  • Moneyline: Notre Dame -550, Navy +350
  • Over/Under: 52 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 26th, 12:00 PM EST

This will be a fantastic game for your NCAAF picks, as these two ranked competitors are both looking to get into the playoff positions in week 9. Notre Dame shook off an early season loss to Northern Illinois by rattling off five straight victories. They most recently beat Georgia Tech 31-13 and will look to dominate Navy this weekend. Navy lacks the size in the lines to physically dominate, so they rely on speed and trickery to generate offense. While this works against the lower-tier teams, Notre Dame will bulldoze their way to victory. A 13 point spread for the road team is chunky, but once Notre Dame gets the lead and starts running the football, they will pull away on the scoreboard.

Pick: Notre Dame (-13) -120

(#21) Missouri at (#15) Alabama

  • Spread: Missouri +14, Alabama -14
  • Moneyline: Missouri +375, Alabama -500
  • Over/Under: 55 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 26th, 3:30 PM EST

Missouri and Alabama are both currently outside of the playoff picture, and a defeat here will see them drop even further down the rankings. Alabama has lost two of their last three games, including a massive upset from Vanderbilt. Their inability to stop the short passing game has cost them victories all season long. Missouri’s only defeat of the year came in a blowout against Texas A&M. While they may be unable to keep pace with Alabama on the scoreboard, the lackluster defensive effort from the Crimson Tide will allow Missouri to get the cover. A 14 point spread is way too many points, making this a fantastic college football pick against the spread this week.

Pick: Missouri (+14) -120

(#11) BYU at UCF

  • Spread: BYU +1.5, UCF -1.5
  • Moneyline: BYU -105, UCF -120
  • Over/Under: 55.5 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 26th, 3:30 PM EST

BYU is off to a 7-0 start to the season, and with no ranked matchups left on their week 9 schedule, this could be the last difficult game of their season. Quarterback Jeff Retzlaff has been exceptional this season, throwing 16 touchdowns and running in two more. BYU’s ability to consistently generate offense is not something UCF can replicate. UCF has been held to 13 points in two of their last three games, and that will simply not be good enough to beat an undefeated team like BYU. The -105 moneyline is a solid college football pick to make, but the extra insurance with the +1.5 college football point spread is the sharper way to go.

Pick: BYU (+1.5) -120

(#3) Penn State at Wisconsin

  • Spread: Penn State -6.5, Wisconsin +6.5
  • Moneyline: Penn State -275, Wisconsin +195
  • Over/Under: 48 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 26th, 7:30 PM EST

This is one of the easiest college football picks of the week. Wisconsin has gotten off to a great start this season, going 54-2 through their first 7 games. However, they were thumped by Alabama 42-10 at home in their only other matchup against ranked opposition. Meanwhile, Penn State is still undefeated and has won all their games by an average margin of 19.6 points. Their superiority on the defensive side of the ball will allow them to stifle the movement of Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke. This spread should be double digits, and it is puzzling to see it under a touchdown. Penn State will cruise to a massive victory and is the most confident college football pick of week 9.

Pick: Penn State (-6.5) -120

(#8) LSU at (#14) Texas A&M

  • Spread: LSU +2.5, Texas A&M -2.5
  • Moneyline: LSU +110, Texas A&M -145
  • Over/Under: 53.5 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 26th, 7:30 PM EST

This is the closest week 9 college football matchup between two ranked teams in week 9. LSU and Texas A&M are both 6-1 on the season and are currently on the fringe of qualifying for the 2024 college football playoffs. Both of these teams have won six straight games since losing their opening matchups and have stormed up the rankings as a result. Texas A&M has relied on explosive offense from quarterback Conner Weigman to find success, while LSU has leaned on their defense to pick up valuable victories. The NCAAF picks are razor-tight, but the slight edge has to go to the road team. LSU has not only been winning, but they have also been doing so in a dominant fashion. Three of their last four victories have been by 17+ points, and a moneyline college football pick is the way to go in week 9.

Pick: LSU Moneyline +110
