Top 5 College Football Expert Picks Week 8

(#2) Oregon at Purdue

  • Spread: Oregon -27.5, Purdue +27.5
  • Moneyline: Purdue +1000
  • Over/Under: 59 Points
  • Time: Friday, October 18th, 8:00 PM EST

This one is short and sweet. Oregon beat the Ohio State Buckeyes last week and will blow Purdue out of the water. They have the honor of the Friday Night spotlight and will have no problems covering this massive spread. Purdue took Illinois to overtime last week but lost by 46 points to unranked Wisconsin the week before. Their only other ranked matchup was a 59 point home defeat against Notre Dame. This one won’t even be close.

Pick: Oregon -27.5 (1120)

(#7) Alabama at (#11) Tennessee

  • Spread: Alabama -2.5, Tennessee +2.5
  • Moneyline: Alabama -140, Tennessee +105
  • Over/Under: 56 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 19th, 3:30 PM EST

This is one of the best college football matchups to make your NCAA football picks this weekend. Alabama and Tennessee are confident they can make the playoffs and a deep playoff run. They have both already suffered losses this season, and another defeat could send them out of the playoff positions.

Alabama picked up a massive victory against the Georgia Bulldogs a few weeks ago but has been unable to translate that victory into the following games. They were upset by Vanderbilt for the first time since 1969 two weeks ago, then narrowly scraped past South Carolina last week. Before that defeat, number one ranked teams were 134-1 against unranked opposition, but that record is now 134-2. Not all hope is lost for Alabama, but it’s still hard to see them winning on the road against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Tennessee has lost just one game this season and won their three home games by a combined score of 160-20. Quarterback Nico Iamaleava will pick apart this Alabama defense and pull off the outright upset. The +2.5 point spread with Tennessee has some value, but the much sharper college football pick is their +105 moneyline.

Pick: Tennessee Volunteers Moneyline +105

(#12) Notre Dame at Georgia Tech

  • Spread: Notre Dame -11.5, Georgia Tech +11.5
  • Moneyline: Notre Dame -425, Georgia Tech +285
  • Over/Under: 49.5 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 19th, 3:30 PM EST

Notre Dame is a clear favorite in this matchup, and they will blow Georgia Tech out of the water. The fact that Georgia Tech is at home is the only reason this spread isn’t longer, and it should be. Notre Dame got upset in the second week of the NCAA football season, but they have rebounded nicely. They’ve won four straight games, three of which were by 25+ points. Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard hasn’t turned the ball over in a month, and Georgia Tech doesn’t have a strong enough defense to give him any issue. The 11.5 spread should be even wider, and Notre Dame to cover the spread is a fantastic college football pick to make this weekend.

Pick: Notre Dame (-11.5) -120

(#8) LSU at Arkansas

  • Spread: LSU -2.5, Arkansas +2.5
  • Moneyline: LSU -145, Arkansas +110
  • Over/Under: 55 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 19th, 7:00 PM EST

Both teams pulled off upsets last week and look poised to vault up the rankings if they pick up another win. Arkansas’s defense has shut down the country’s best football programs and will feel confident they can do so again against LSU. They allowed 19 points against #11 Tennessee, 21 against #14 Texas A&M, and 14 against Auburn in their last three games.

At LSU, they have opposite priorities compared to Arkansas. LSU tries to outscore their lackluster defense and has scored 20+ points in every game this season. While there isn’t any value in making an NCAA football pick against the spread, the total is a fantastic prospect for your college football picks. LSU has stayed under this total in three straight games, while Arkansas has done so in four. At 55 points, the under is the best NCAAF pick for this matchup.

Pick: LSU vs Arkansas Under 55 Points -120

UCF at (#9) Iowa State

  • Spread: UCF +14, Iowa State -14
  • Moneyline: UCF +425, Iowa State -750
  • Over/Under: 48.5 Points
  • Time: Saturday, October 19th, 7:30 PM EST

The 3-3 UCF takes on the undefeated Iowa State, but this spread is slightly too wide for these two teams. UCF may be only .500 on the season, but only one of their defeats was by 14+ points. They have been able to play strong defense and have the roster needed to keep it close against Iowa State. The home team is undefeated, but they have yet to play a ranked team this season. UCF isn’t even close to being ranked, but the lack of Iowa State blowouts makes a UCF cover a solid college football pick for this week. They only beat West Virginia by 12 points last week and will eke out another close victory against UCF on Saturday.

Pick: UCF (+14) -115
