Colts NFL Draft Picks

The Indianapolis Colts have been stuck in purgatory for the last few seasons. They have been too good for a top draft pick but not good enough to qualify for the NFL playoffs. After another 8-9 season last year, the Colts are desperate to make a splash in the 2025 NFL draft. Their quarterback problems appear to be resolved, allowing the Colts to build around Anthony Richardson at the 2025 NFL draft.

Indianapolis Colts Needs and Draft Strategy

Tight End:

There is no denying that the offensive line is the most important position in determining a quarterback’s success, but the tight end is not far behind. A strong tight end can serve as a safety net for the quarterback, as he can dump it off for short gains when the pocket collapses. Kylen Granson was the leading tight end for the Colts last year, but he had just 14 catches for 182 yards despite playing all 17 games. The Colts are desperate for a tight end at the 2025 NFL draft, and this is a rare opportunity for a skill position player to instantly get thrust into the starting lineup. Indianapolis is the desired destination for many of the top tight ends in the 2025 NFL draft.

Interior Offensive Lineman:

The Colts have the outside offensive lineman position covered, but they will need help on the inside from the 2025 NFL draft. Center Ryan Kelly is expected to depart Indianapolis, and the Colts are desperate to fill that hole with a top-end talent. It will be difficult for the Colts to find an elite offensive lineman at the 2025 NFL draft without using one of their first two picks, but locking up a strong prospect on a cheap contract could allow the Colts to finally take the next step in the AFC South.

Cornerback:

The Colts need help all over their secondary, as their safety help isn’t much better than their options at cornerback. However, there are several high-level cornerbacks in the 2025 NFL draft, and the Colts will likely opt to shore up this position group before working their way down the field. The Colts generated their fair share of turnovers last season, but that was offset by all the times their secondary was beaten down the field. The Colts had one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, and a large portion of that blame can go to the cornerback position group. The Colts need a cornerback who will not get overaggressive in jumping routes and can finally give them some protection from deep balls down the field.

How many picks do the Indianapolis Colts have in the 2025 Draft?

The Indianapolis Colts have been very quiet in the trade market, and made no trades to buy or sell draft capital in the 2025 NFL draft. Additionally, the Colts are not expected to lose many players in free agency, and are unlikely to be awarded any compensatory picks. Their selections this year are as follows:

  • 1st Round: 14th Overall
  • 2nd Round: 45th Overall
  • 3rd Round: 80th Overall
  • 4th Round: 116th Overall
  • 5th Round: 152nd Overall
  • 6th Round: 191st Overall
  • 7th Round: 234th Overall

Potential Indianapolis Colts Draft Picks 2025

1st Round, 14th Overall: Colston Loveland (Tight End, Michigan)

Colston Loveland is expected to be available at 14th overall, and this would be the best use of the Indianapolis Colts’ top pick at the 2025 NFL draft. Loveland thrives in the passing game over the run schemes, and will be the perfect safety net for Richardson next season. His ability to open down the field comes naturally for him, and he will only get better as he grows into his large frame. At 14th overall, this would be a steal for the Colts.

2nd Round, 45th Overall: Shavon Revel Jr. (Cornerback, East Carolina)

Two-way player Travis Hunter will be long gone by the time the Colts make a selection in the 2025 NFL draft, but there is still lots of talent at corner this year. Shavon Revel Jr. is the 5th or 6th best corner in the 2025 NFL draft, but he is still exploding with the potential to have a great NFL career. His agility is his strongest asset, as he can effortlessly track the routes of his opposing receivers.

3rd Round, 80th Overall: Miles Frazier (Offensive Guard, LSU)

There won’t be many offensive guards taken in the opening few rounds at the 2025 NFL draft, but Miles Frazier has all the upside teams look for when taking a shot at this position. His speed and quickness still need work, but slowing him down on interior run plays is impossible. Frazier is limited to the inside, but considering the strong tackles the Colts have on their roster, that will not be a problem in Indianapolis.
