Best NFL Week 13 Matchups

Dolphins at Packers

  • Spread: Packers -3.5 (-105)
  • Moneyline: Dolphins +140/Packers -180
  • Over/Under: 47.0
  • Time: Thursday, November 28 at 8:20 p.m. ET

The nightcap on Thanksgiving comes from iconic Lambeau Field, where the Miami Dolphins will face the Green Bay Packers in the cold. After injury concerns and struggles early in the season, both the Packers and Dolphins have hit a groove on offense—units that powered great seasons a year ago—and this sets them up for an explosive matchup.

In the four games Miami’s played since Tua Tagovailoa returned from a concussion, it has scored an average of 29.5 points per game while averaging 334.25 yards of offense. For the season, those averages would rank fourth (points scored) and 16th (yards per game) in the NFL. The Dolphins’ offense has resembled last year’s unit, and Jaylen Waddle’s breakout last Sunday is a massive boost.

It’s been a similar story for the Packers in recent weeks. Excluding their loss against the NFC-leading Lions, the last four games have seen the Pack get high-level contributions from their top playmakers in big wins over the 49ers, Jaguars, Texans, and Bears.

With Green Bay’s deep offense healthy and clicking and Tua back under center and meshing with his weapons again, the Dolphins and Packers should put on a show on Thursday night.

Pick: Over 47.0

Chargers at Falcons

  • Spread: Chargers -1.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Chargers -125/Falcons +100
  • Over/Under: 47.5
  • Time: Sunday, December 1 at 1:00 p.m. ET

The bye week came at just the right time for the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons, who were on the brink of collapse ahead of their break. In weeks 10 and 11, the Falcons lost to the messy Saints in a close rivalry game before getting smashed by the Broncos in a 38-6 embarrassment.

The loss to the middling Saints and in Denver closely reflects what this Atlanta team is. It’s proven to be a mediocre team, boosted by a couple of close wins. The Falcons are 19th in total DVOA coming out of their bye, which feels right.

Their backslide contrasts with the Chargers, who have fully hit their stride under Jim Harbaugh. The Bolts won four straight before Monday night’s loss to the Super Bowl-worthy Ravens and, with the exception of Joe Burrow’s heroic near-comeback in prime-time, weren’t even really pushed during their winning streak. Wins against the Saints, Browns, and Titans featured an average margin of victory of 15.0.

L.A. is a legitimately good team that has hit its stride, while the Falcons have proven to be a middling outfit. The Chargers will prove as much on Sunday.

Pick: Chargers -1.5 (-110)

49ers at Bills

  • Spread: Bills -6.5 (-125)
  • Moneyline: 49ers +240/Bills -325
  • Over/Under: 45.5
  • Time: Sunday, December 1 at 8:20 p.m. ET

The San Francisco 49ers are getting a lot of credit in this matchup, and undeservedly so. This is a Sunday Night Football meeting between a true contender who’s proven to be a great team against a middling NFC squad. Adding to the lopsidedness is the venue, with Buffalo no doubt roaring at kickoff.

The Bills are third in total DVOA and have made a habit of beating teams soundly. Their margin of victory of +9.6 is second in the NFL to the buzz saw Detroit Lions. They’ve looked down one of the league’s best – not one coasting off reputation like this current Niners team – having beaten the Chiefs by nine before their bye week.

San Francisco is in a bad place, with little contributions from its stars — and several more injured in George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk. Worse still, Brock Purdy missed Week 12 with a shoulder injury. Even if Purdy makes it back for the Buffalo matchup, it’s an injury that will be managed — not fixed.

The 49ers need their best to keep a game against the Bills within one score. Unfortunately for San Francisco, it has been far from it in recent weeks.

Pick: Bills -6.5 (-125)
