Best NFL Week 14 Matchups
Panthers at Eagles
- Spread: Eagles -12 (-110)
- Moneyline: Panthers +525/Eagles -900
- Over/Under: 45.5
- Time: Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET
Credit where credit is due: the Carolina Panthers and last year’s first overall pick, Bryce Young, have impressively stabilized after it appeared to all be getting away from them earlier in the season. In the five games since Young re-entered the lineup, the Panthers are 2-3 — including an overtime loss — and have been at least respectable. For his part, Young has calmed down from the outright disaster he appeared to be.
For Dave Canales’ job status and for long-suffering Panthers fans alike, that’s all well and good. It is also, however, fairly irrelevant when it means a trip to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.
The Eagles have transformed into a buzzsaw similar to the 2022 team, just with the added layer of All-Pro Saquon Barkley looking like the best player on the field week in and week out. Since their bye week, the Eagles have rolled over opponents. This current eight-game win streak has seen an average margin of victory of 14.0, with four coming by multiple scores (and another by eight points).
This is arguably the best, most complete team in the NFL against a talent-poor outfit and a passer that remains unproven. Between Vic Fangio’s defense, certain to torment Young all day, and the league’s most relentless running attack, expect Philadelphia to win comfortably.
Pick: Eagles -12 (-110)
Browns at Steelers
- Spread: Steelers -6.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Browns +225/Steelers -300
- Over/Under: 41.5
- Time: Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET
The AFC North is a brutal battleground that often breeds tense, archaic football for the purists. Yet, the Over/Under line here of 41.5 points doesn’t quite make sense for either team nor how the pair matchup.
First, the matchup appears to simply ignore recent history. It was only in Week 12 that these two combined to score 43 points in awful conditions. Not only were they dealing with the realities of a short week, with it being Thursday Night Football, but a snowstorm descended on the game and severely limited both offenses. Neither of those will be factors on Sunday.

The Steelers’ offense has evolved considerably since Russell Wilson entered the lineup in late October. Wilson’s unlocked the deep and perimeter passing game after Justin Fields’ limited range narrowed the scope of the offense. In Wilson’s six games as the starter, the Steelers have averaged 28.6 points per game and have discovered a newfound explosive element to their attack.
Similarly, for the Browns, a quarterback change altered the outlook for their offense. Jameis Winston has unlocked… well, pretty much the entire passing game after Deshaun Watson struggled through the first parts of the season. Winston’s volatile play leads to high passing volume and the chance for high-scoring outputs, like 29 points against the Ravens—or even hanging 24 on the Steelers, as he did.
These two teams are unlikely to play their way into a shootout like the Steelers and Bengals just played in Week 13. They can, however, engage in a competitive game featuring two competent offenses. That alone would be enough to clear a low total.
Pick: Over 41.5
Bills at Rams
- Spread: Bills -4.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Bills -220/Rams +170
- Over/Under: 49.0
- Time: Sunday, December 8 at 4:25 p.m. ET
In this space last week, we highlighted the Bills’ 6.5-point edge over the 49ers as a line worth exploiting. A large part of that argument boiled down to Buffalo being a truly elite NFL team and Josh Allen the clear MVP to this point.
A lot of that can be applied here, with the Bills making the cross-country trip to Los Angeles to face the Rams. As seen on Sunday Night Football in Week 13, Buffalo is in the midst of a brutally cold winter, and Sofi Stadium will be packed with Bills fans – thus saying goodbye to any home-field edge the Rams may have had.
What’s left is a downright dominant Bills team, led by the MVP favorite, headed to play a mediocre team. The Bills are third in total DVOA, have the second-best average scoring margin at +10.9, and have dominated opponents in three of their four road wins. The Rams, meanwhile, sit 16th in total DVOA, carry a downright bad averaging scoring margin (-3.0) and just got crushed by 17 points at home to the Eagles.
SoFi and the Rams will see another ugly bludgeoning at the hands of a visitor.
Pick: Bills -4.5 (-110)
