Best NFL Week 18 Matchups
Bengals at Steelers
- Spread: Bengals -3 (-110)
- Moneyline: Bengals -160/Steelers +125
- Over/Under: 48.5
- Time: Saturday, January 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET
In an absolutely wild, dramatic game last Saturday, the Cincinnati Bengals kept their slim playoff hopes alive through the latest act of heroics from Joe Burrow. With their season in the balance, Burrow and the Bengals need to go into Pittsburgh to remain alive.
With the Steelers, who have now ceded control of the AFC North, backsliding, Cincinnati has a great chance to take a win and push its playoff hopes to the final day. Oddsmakers like the Bengals to do just that, and with good reason.
Since a crushing one-score loss to these same Steelers at the start of December, the Bengals have reeled off four wins in a row. Burrow has ascended to another level of elite play and is making a case for MVP at the helm of an eight win team.
Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has lost three straight, and with George Pickens’s hamstring severely slowing him down, the Steelers offense has been incapable of mustering production. Without an outlet like Pickens, I’d expect the Bengals can run away from the Steelers.
Pick: Bengals -3 (-110)

Bears at Packers
- Spread: Packers -8 (-110)
- Moneyline: Bears +325/Packers -475
- Over/Under: 40.5
- Time: Sunday, January 5 at 1:00 p.m. ET
The Packers are a very good team that’s capable of scoring with absolutely anyone, and crucially, for the context of this matchup, they still need to fight for playoff seeding. With Green Bay’s best expected, this game can be boiled down to a simple question: Can the Bears stay within one score?
The answer, quite emphatically, should be no. Since the running backs coach turned offensive coordinator and head coach Thomas Brown took over for Matt Eberflus, the floor has fallen out on Chicago. The last four games have seen Chicago average 11.25 points and under 252 yards of total offense.
Those are stunningly low numbers for an offense in 2024, and last week was the nadir, with just three points scored and 11 first downs totaled. Even if the Pack started Malik Willis and ran out the string in Week 18, I would expect them to win by double digits.
Pick: Packers -8 (-110)
Vikings at Lions
- Spread: Lions -3 (-110)
- Moneyline: Vikings +125/Lions -160
- Over/Under: 52.5
- Time: Sunday, January 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET
For months now, it has looked like we were barrelling toward a Week 18 Sunday Night Football finale between NFC North foes, and now we’re here. The matchup between the Vikings and Lions is incredible on paper, and the chances are staggering.
While the fortunes could swing in either direction, taking the division title and home-field advantage with it, one thing is more likely than anything else: points, and plenty of them.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen the endless string of injuries finally take their toll on the Lions’ defense. Over the last four games, they’ve allowed an average of 29.0 points per game and have been gashed to the tune of 385.0 yards per game.
Against a dynamic Vikings offense with four legitimate weapons across the skill positions in Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson, and Aaron Jones, more of the same difficulties are ahead for Detroit.
Luckily for the Lions, however, is that their offense hasn’t faltered. Jared Goff’s stable hand has continued to guide one of the league’s finest attacks. Detroit remains third in offensive Expected Points Added, third in total offense, third in points per play, and second in both points and yards per drive. The Vikings do not have the personnel to slow down the Lions in 2024.
There are so many hinges on the regular season finale on Sunday night, and drama right down to the wire is to be expected. In what will be a topsy-turvy fight between divisional foes, we can count on one thing for certain: a back-and-forth fight with plenty of scoring.
Pick: Over 52.5
