Best NFL Week 5 Matchups

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans

Sunday, October 6th, 1:00 PM EST

  • Moneyline: Bills -120, Texans -105
  • Spread: Buffalo Bills (-1)
  • Total: 47.5 Points

There is no doubt what the best NFL week 5 matchup is, and that is when the Bills head to Houston to take on the Texans. Both of these AFC contenders are 3-1 to start the year, and a head-to-head victory against one another could go a long way in determining the end-of-season playoff picture. The NFL games odds week 5 have the Bills as slight road favorites over Houston, but the NFL odds week 5 have this as a very close NFL week 5 matchup.

The Bills were embarrassed on Sunday Night Football against the Ravens, losing 35-10 in front of the nation. Their inability to convert on third down (3/13) cost them valuable possessions, and the Ravens repeatedly broke off for big plays down the field. Quarterback Josh Allen has been playing like the MVP this season, and while he fell short against Baltimore, he will regain his footing in Houston.

The Texans have emerged from their rebuild with a solid starting quarterback, plenty of offensive pieces, and a stifling defensive unit. Quarterback CJ Stroud won OROY last season and will be looking to set the Texans up for some postseason success. Houston showed ther grit last week, overcoming a late deficit to keep their division rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars, winless on the season.

As the 1 point spread in favor of the Bills suggests, this is a very close NFL week 5 matchup. It’s surprising to see the Bills enter this one as road favorites after last week’s drubbing, and we will take the Houston Texans moneyline at -105 odds. Houston has proven they are capable of taking down the league’s best teams, and home field advantage will give them an edge here. The Bills defense is no longer the force they once were, and the Texans will edge out a pivotal AFC victory.

Pick: Houston Texans Moneyline -105

Dallas Cowboys at Pittsburgh Steelers

Sunday, October 6th, 8:15 PM EST

  • Moneyline: Cowboys +110, Steelers -140
  • Spread: Pittsburgh Steelers (-2.5)
  • Total: 43 Points

The NFL has given their fans a historic NFL week 5 matchup for Sunday Night Football, as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dallas hasn’t been able to get off to the hot start they are accustomed to, while the Steelers had their 3-0 start spoiled by the Vikings in week 4.

Dallas is a tough team to get a read on. One week they go out and beat up on the Browns 33-17 only to follow it up with a 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Quarterback Dak Prescott has been average, throwing for 6 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and 268 passing yards per game. It has been the Dallas defense that has let them down. Dallas is one of 7 teams to allow 100 or more points this season. Fortunately for them, the Steelers aren’t the most threatening offensive team, so they can try and use this matchup to springboard their defense for the rest of the year.

This matchup goes one of two ways. Either the Steelers grind the Cowboys into submission, or the Cowboys get an early lead and run away with the game. Pittsburgh continues to defy expectations by leaning on their elite defense to pick up wins, but it’s surprising to see them come into this game as favorites. Quarterback Justin Fields has been ineffective and has already begun to show signs of a dropoff. The Cowboys are desperate to pick up the win after the Washington Commanders built a division lead, and will do just that on Sunday Night. Grab the +2.5 point spread as insurance, but this should be straightforward for the Cowboys.

Pick: Dallas Cowboys (+2.5) -110
