College Football Week 12 Odds Analysis

(#6) Tennessee at (#11) Georgia

  • Spread: Tennessee -9.5, Georgia +9.5
  • Moneyline: Tennessee +260, Georgia -375
  • Over/Under: 48.5 Points
  • Time: Saturday, November 16th, 7:30 PM EST

There is no underplaying the significance of this college football showdown this weekend. The 6th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers hit the road to take on the 11th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs lost their second game of the season last week against Ole Miss, and a loss to Tennessee would send the 2021 and 2022 champions out of the 12-team college football playoffs. While Tennessee may be ranked higher, the margin for error is still minuscule for the Volunteers. Tennessee lost to Arkansas last month, but four straight wins, including one over Alabama, have them in the thick of the playoff race. A defeat would leave them with little to no chance of postseason qualification.

This has the potential to be the game of the season in terms of what it means for both teams, but don’t expect the points to be flying onto the board this weekend. The NCAAF odds have the total at just 48.5 points, as both of these teams rely on their defense to succeed. Tennessee hasn’t allowed 20 or more points yet this season, and they will be tested against a motivated Carson Beck. Beck threw three picks in Georgia’s loss last week and hasn’t lived up to his lofty expectations this season. The Volunteers will be eager to get Beck onto the grass as often as possible, and it’s hard to see the Bulldogs moving the ball down the field.

Overall, Tennessee may not have the same history as the Bulldogs, but their current rosters have very little to separate the pair. When a pair of strong defenses collide, it will be difficult for either team to build and maintain a double-digit lead. The -9 point spread would be fair if this was an earlier Georgia team, but their current roster has too many holes to get this college football point spread against Tennessee. Take the Volunteers to cover the spread, and don’t shy away from the moneyline, as it offers fantastic college football odds too.

Pick: Tennessee Volunteers (+9.5) -120 and Tennessee Moneyline +260

(#24) Missouri at (#23) South Carolina

  • Spread: Missouri +13.5, South Carolina -13.5
  • Moneyline: Missouri +400, South Carolina -800
  • Over/Under: 44.5 Points
  • Time: Saturday, November 16th, 4:15 PM EST

All eyes will be on Georgia and Tennessee, but this is still a crucial college football matchup. Missouri and South Carolina were both long shots to make the college football playoffs, but they could get one step closer with a victory against a fellow ranked opponent.

Both teams already have multiple losses this season, but the lockdown defense from South Carolina will allow them to put a big win on the board. For these teams fighting for a spot in the playoffs, it isn’t enough that they win, but they must do so in a dominant fashion. For South Carolina to climb the rankings, they need a big win against Missouri this weekend. Their last five wins have been by 20 or more points, and they will be able to extend that streak with a season-defining victory against Missouri.

Pick: South Carolina (-13.5) -120
