2025 NFL Preseason Week 4 Odds Analysis

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Jets
- Spread: Jets -1.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Eagles -105 / Jets -135
- Over/Under: 34.5 (-120)
- Time: Friday, August 22nd at 7:30 p.m. ET
In many ways, the Philadelphia Eagles have owned the preseason. Not because of their status as defending Super Bowl champions, or their place among the league’s elite. No, the Eagles have been a headline team in August because of backup quarterback Tanner McKee.
The second-year passer has emerged as one of the league’s premier backups and a player to potentially target as a future starter.
After an impressive spot start to end last regular season, McKee dominated his lone appearance this month, going 20 for 25 passing with 252 yards and two touchdowns. McKee’s progress, however, has been stalled by a finger injury that’s likely to keep him out of the preseason finale.
In place of McKee and starter Jalen Hurts, the Eagles will roll out Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord—neither of whom are exactly formidable.
Between uninspiring play under center and the short ramp up toward Week 1’s Thursday Night Football opener, it’s easy to envision Philadelphia closing up shop and turning its focus to the regular season.
As a result, the New York Jets should cover the slim line here with ease.
Pick: Jets -1.5 (-120)
Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans
- Spread: Titans -3.5 (-120)
- Moneyline: Vikings +130 / Titans -190
- Over/Under: 37.5 (-120)
- Time: Friday, August 22nd at 8:00 p.m. ET
The relatively low totals of preseason games are primed to be exploited in the right spots. In Nashville this weekend, where the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans see a line of 37.5, there is a right spot.
From the Vikes’ perspective, prospective backup Sam Howell has a job to win. The former Commanders starter has struggled this preseason and will need to legitimately play well to win his job. A veteran of 18 NFL starts, Howell has the experience, talent, and running ability to punish preseason defenses. With a job on the line, I’d expect him to operate Minnesota’s offense at a consistent level.
On Tennessee’s side, a little positive momentum in the form of an adequate offense would be a boon. First overall pick Cam Ward has struggled through two preseason games, going a combined 7 for 15 with 109 yards passing and no touchdowns. It’s hardly indicative of future, regular season performance, but it is a line that demands improvement nonetheless.
With a savvy, offensive-minded head coach in Brian Callahan at the helm, I’d expect the Titans to close out the preseason with an uber-simplified offense. Whether it’s Ward or backups Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle, Callahan is going to give his quarterbacks layups to just create a little sense of momentum.
With a pair of offenses motivated to score on Friday night in Nashville, I’d count on the Over with a slight line.
Pick: Over 37.5 (-120)

Baltimore Ravens vs. Washington Commanders
- Spread: Ravens -2.5 (-125)
- Moneyline: Ravens -160 / Commanders +110
- Over/Under: 35.5 (-120)
- Time: Saturday, August 23rd at 12:00 p.m. ET
One of the NFL’s great oddities over the last decade has been Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh’s intensity toward preseason. While some coaches have their teams going through the motions, and others largely ignoring it altogether, Harbaugh cares. A lot.
Baltimore’s famous 23-game preseason win streak (which included an absurd +280 point differential) may have ended two years ago, but that intensity hasn’t wavered. The Ravens continue to play preseason games with unmatched focus and intensity, and in the final week of the preseason, that leaves an opponent primed to be exploited. Enter Dan Quinn’s Washington Commanders.
Coincidentally, while Harbaugh has taken to preseason games with determination, Quinn’s teams have a league-worst 6-18 record against the spread in preseason games. With the gulf in preparation and care, and a slim line of just 2.5 points on the board here, I’ll happily take the Ravens to cover.
Pick: Ravens -2.5 (-125)
