NFL Week 3 Odds Analysis

Cleveland Browns (+150, +4.5 Point Spread) at Philadelphia Eagles (-225, -4.5 Point Spread) Saturday, August 16th, 1 PM EST

Quarterbacks are everything in the NFL preseason, and the Browns have the edge with limited participation from Jalen Hurts. The battle for the primary signal caller in Cleveland is incredibly close, and even with Shedeur Sanders sidelined with an injury, the Browns cannot be faded.

Cleveland made it look easy against the Panthers last week and has a trio of QBs that are fired up for this one. Dillon Gabriel, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett are all better than Tanner McKee in Philadelphia. That edge, combined with the physical play the Browns demand, has made these NFL odds hard to explain.

The Eagles may be Super Bowl champions coming off a solid preseason victory, but the Browns’ moneyline is one of the best picks to make given the American football odds available.

Prediction: Cleveland Browns Moneyline +150

Los Angeles Chargers (-225) vs Los Angeles Rams (+150) Saturday, August 16th, 7 PM EST

There won’t be any travel for either of these two teams as they face off at SoFi Stadium in downtown Los Angeles.

The Chargers have gone 2-0 to kick off the preseason and will be looking to make it three straight wins at the expense of their cross-town rivals. The Rams will be without Matthew Stafford for this one due to injury, and it is hard to see Jimmy Garoppolo rise to the occasion for a meaningless preseason game at age 33.

Across the field, the Chargers have plenty to prove heading into this year, and they look like a determined team on both sides of the ball. Justin Herbert will likely step out and take a few snaps, but even Taylor Heinicke and Trey Lance will be better than what the Rams have to offer.

Additionally, the Chargers have a serious advantage in the trenches, whether their starters or backups suit up on the offensive line. Los Angeles rightfully deserves to be the favorite on the NFL odds, but this margin should be even wider given how good they have looked so far. This won’t be the longest NFL odds in the third week of the preseason, but this is still an excellent parlay piece to use this weekend.

Prediction: Los Angeles Chargers Moneyline -225

Cincinnati Bengals (-230, -4.5 Point Spread) at Washington Commanders (+155, +4.5 Point Spread) Monday, August 18th, 8:00 PM EST

Both of these teams lost their opening preseason games last week and will want to pick up their first win in Week 3. Cincinnati has now gone seven straight preseason games without a victory, despite playing its starters for two drives last week.

Both of those drives resulted in touchdowns with Joe Burrow making it look easy, but the Bengals will need more from their reserves if they are to win this matchup. Offensive depth has been a concern for Cincinnati for the last several seasons, and they have limited options at quarterback without putting Burrow in the line of fire.

Washington beat the Bengals in Week 3 of the regular season last year and will be confident that the NFL odds are wrong to make them home underdogs here. We are unlikely to see Jayden Daniels play much in this matchup, but he is expected to suit up for the opening drives.

Meanwhile, the standoff with Terry McLaurin still looms large, and the Commanders struggled to get stops against the Patriots last week on the other side of the ball.

Both of these teams looked horrible in their first preseason games, but it is impossible to justify the Bengals in the favorite role for this matchup. Cincinnati hasn’t won a preseason game in nearly four years, and the Washington fanbase will get out for this game even though it is just a formality.

Taking the Commanders’ point spread on the current NFL odds is the way to go, and you can even mix in some moneyline at +155 to cap off your NFL Week 3 preseason predictions.

Pick: Washington Commanders (+4.5) and Moneyline (+155)
