NFL schedule makers didn’t make us wait long for a Super Bowl rematch, as the NFL odds board in Week 2 features a potential game of the season—and Sportzino’s free sportsbook has the full American football odds and Eagles vs. Chiefs prediction in store.
Both the Eagles and Chiefs will have enjoyed an extended rest ahead of Sunday’s showdown, with the Eagles getting their season underway in the league’s annual Thursday night kickoff game and the Chiefs enjoying Friday night lights in Brazil.
Yet, while Philly was also able to enjoy a win in its season opener, the same can’t be said for a Chiefs team that faltered against a divisional foe. Now, they face down the dreaded 0-2 start against a team that shattered their heart just months ago.

Expert Prediction: Who Wins?

Just seven months ago, a relentless Philadelphia Eagles defensive front harassed Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense for four quarters. The Eagles offense, for their part, enjoyed a handful of explosive plays and typical efficiency, helping the team to glory.
Now, as a rematch looms on the horizon, some things remain the same—but some have changed considerably. While Mahomes and the Chiefs offense are once again resigned to a life of paper cuts—even more so with Xavier Worthy having joined Rashee Rice on the sidelines—they may have more room to breathe in the rematch.
The Philly defense we saw on the opening night of the season, due to absences and departures, was a far cry from the unit that evolved into a force of nature last January and February.
Whether that breathing room is enough for Mahomes to thrive, as he so often does, is up in the air—setting up must-watch football on Sunday afternoon.
Why the Philadelphia Eagles Can Cover
Despite a muted performance on offense from the Philadelphia Eagles on opening night, it served as a warning shot to the NFL. Between Jalen Hurts’ dual-threat prowess, the Eagles’ tremendous offensive line, and the ability of Saquon Barkley to turn dirt into gold, Philly can lean on an offense that holds a high floor.
Both Hurts and Barkley, on the ground, are complete anomalies and prove so hard for offenses to match. Even in that season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, the pair in Philadelphia’s backfield helped to create an Expected Points Added (EPA) total of 8.66. That is an outrageously high single-game total—compare it to the Baltimore Ravens, who led the league in rushing EPA in 2024 at 5.9.
That, ultimately, is why the Eagles are such a threat to cover when there’s such a small line at play. They can manufacture offensive production like few teams across the league, and there’s yet to be a defense that has adequately solved the problem Philadelphia’s rushing attack presents without then opening the door for verticality with AJ Brown and Devonta Smith.
Kansas City wasn’t able to find that answer in February, and it’ll prove difficult for it to do so on Sunday.

Why the Kansas City Chiefs Can Cover
While we’ve seen the Eagles open it up and punish teams through explosive passing plays before, it’s not their forte, and it’s not a formula they can depend on against the league’s truly elite passers.
A week on from a heroic performance out of Patrick Mahomes in Brazil, the Chiefs will need to roll it back with Mahomes’ superhero impression again—and they could find success despite the lack of weapons around their all-time great passer.
The one area where the Eagles really did not resemble their champion selves in Week 1 was along the defensive line. Whilst a unit performing at an elite level powered them through the postseason in 2024, there was no such force on Thursday.
Philly averaged 6.8 pressures per game as a defense last season but mustered just three total against the Cowboys. Now, against an even stronger offensive line in Kansas City, that is a genuine cause for concern.
Mahomes’ weapons may be depleted, but to give him time to sit in the pocket and create a structure is a death sentence—even more so when he’s at full health and able to utilize his sneaky mobility, like last week when he led all players in the Chiefs-Chargers matchup with 57 yards.
For only the second time in the Mahomes era, the Chiefs are set to be underdogs at home. Yet, with the possibility the Eagles can’t affect Mahomes in his drops, Kansas City may not just prove oddsmakers wrong—it could win outright and extract the faintest touch of revenge after the heartbreak in New Orleans last February.
